Youpreneur Challenge Roundup

I was honoured when, last December, my mentor Chris Ducker asked me if I would create a video workshop for his online business mastermind community, Youpreneur.

I had joined Youpreneur almost exactly a year earlier when, after 4 years in business, I found myself stuck in a rut and lacking clarity and direction. I’d been a long-time listener of Chris’ podcast and his community, newly launched, was exactly what I needed to get my mojo back.

One of the main reasons I joined was to get access to the fantastic back-catalogue of training seminars from Chris’ annual mastermind event in the Philippines, Tropical Think Tank. The speakers are always first-rate; online business and marketing heavy-weights like Pat Flynn, John Lee Dumas, Darren Rowse and Amy Porterfield.

Little did I know that, just 12 months later, I would have my own place in the Youpreneur Training Library, alongside these world-class entrepreneurs, and leading UK experts in their field, like Colin Gray, Janet Murray and Mike Morrison!

Youpreneur Training Library - Consistent Blogging Workshop

The workshop is about How To Become A Consistent Blogger; a major challenge, particularly for solopreneurs. Blogging is at the heart of any personal brand, but it only works when you do it consistently and effectively. I wanted to share some tips for the Youpies (yes, that’s what we call ourselves!) to help them overcome the barriers to consistent content creation.

The workshop went live at the beginning of April, and Chris decided to centre this month’s community challenge around the issue as well.

Youpreneur Forum - April Consistent Blogging Challenge

I’ve been so impressed with the content being produced by the Youpreneur members that I decided to share some of my favourites! So here it goes…

Why Your Core Values Will Help In Hiring Front Desk

Ramona Rice,

Ramona is one of the most active Youpreneur members and an inspirational lady. In 2016, she launched SpaPreneur, a podcast, blog and community dedicated to helping spa businesses grow and succeed.

In this post, Ramona talks about the importance of hiring based on core values. Whilst the article is aimed at spa owners, the advice really applies to any business. Your people are an extension of your brand, so if you want to attract the right customers and create a cohesive team, then your values need to be at the centre of your hiring decisions.

Personal Branding and Being Genuine

Roberto R Hernandez,

Roberto describes himself as a marketer by day and a musician by night. This month on his website, he published an interesting and thoughtful piece on authenticity and personal branding.

He observes that the notion of our “true selves” evolves over time, and questions whether adapting our personality to different situations means we are not being authentic. Through his reflection, he concludes that all we can do is try to be as genuine as we know how, in the present moment.

Are YOU a Yes Person or a NO Person?

Margaret Meloni,

Margaret’s mission is to support Project Managers to be the best they can be, through training and support. In this blog post, she uses a little story about Ginny and Sal to illustrate the difference between “yes” people and “no” people.

Which one are you?

Don’t forget, with effective facilitation, both types of people are important contributors to successful decision making!

27 Tools That Every Entrepreneur Needs From Day One

Mark Asquith,

Excellence Expected is the brainchild of Mark Asquith, an entrepreneur with a passion for helping others navigate the rocky road of starting in business. He has quickly established himself as a successful podcaster and speaker, and has now launched his own membership community.

Setting the benchmark for content creators everywhere, Mark had his blog posts for the entire year written and scheduled back in December (!), but one of the ones he published this month was a super-comprehensive list of apps and tools for entrepreneurs.

Some I already knew of, many I didn’t – well worth checking out.

6 Foolproof Methods To Uncover Bestselling Ideas For Your Next Book

Jyotsna Ramachandran,

Jyotsna is an Author, Publisher and Book Coach from India. Her brand, Happy Self Publishing, does what it says on the tin – helps people to successfully publish their own written works.

They say “everybody has a book inside them” – what’s yours? Jyotsna helps you figure it out in this post, with tips on how to identify your next bestselling idea. Her biggest piece of advice is not to write a book for the sake of it – do your research, bide your time and inspiration will undoubtedly strike.

What Is A Hashtag?

Jason Stevens,

Jason was one of the first people I got to know in Youpreneur when I first joined, through Snapchat. Based over in Australia, he blogs and podcasts about all things tech and digital. I particularly love his #oneminutepodcast, which he delivers using audio app Anchor.

In this short and sweet post, Jason succinctly explains the purpose of a hashtag, for those of us who need the low-down.

Pretty great stuff, right? I’m so glad to be a part of this amazing global community of inspirational entrepreneurs!

Oh, by the way, Chris ran Tropical Think Tank for the last time this year, but in its place, he is launching a brand new conference in London: Youpreneur Summit. Want to know what it’s like to be a Youpie? Want to hear from world-class entrepreneurs and mastermind with ambitious entrepreneurs from around the world? Don’t miss this event on 11th and 12th November 2017.

  1. Hi Yva, As I mentioned in the Youpreneur forum and on the Twitter, so kind of you to include me. You inspired me to talk goals, accountability partners/groups, and not freaking out when we miss the mark on some of our goals. This was for a membership site that I support. Most of all, I feel a little extra special being mentioned by a UK blogger. 🙂 Keep up the good work.
